On September 26-27, 2019 the Russian Far Eastern Malacological Society (RFEMS) with the support of the A.V. Zhirmunsky National Scientific Center of Marine Biology, Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (NSCMB FEB RAS) supported by the University Museum of Bergen, University of Bergen, the P.P. Shirshov Institute of Oceanology RAS (IO RAS), Moscow and ForBio - Research School in Biosystematics (Norway) organized an international two-day seminar-meeting on the problems of modern malacology. The international seminar timed to coincide with the 25th anniversary of RFEMS, was held at the NSCMB FEB RAS as a continuation of the International School on Systematics, Morphology and Evolution of Marine Mollusks, which took place on 17-25 September, 2019 at the "Vostok Marine Biological Station", Primorsky Krai. The organizing committee of the seminar was chaired by RFEMS President, Dr. K.A. Lutaenko and ForBio Program Coordinator, Dr. N.E. Budaeva (IO RAS and the University of Bergen). The international seminar held in September 2019 saw 63 Russian participants from Vladivostok, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Khabarovsk and 20 foreigners from ten countries (Vietnam, Germany, Spain, Ireland, Italy, Canada, the Republic of Korea, Norway, USA, Sweden).The Russian participants included representatives of three specially protected areas, namely the Far East Marine Biosphere Reserve, a branch of the NSCMB FEB RAS (Primorsky Krai), the Khingan State Nature Reserve (Amur region), and the "Yugansky" State Nature Reserve (Surgut, Khanty-Mansi region). During the seminar, 14 oral and 37 poster presentations were contributed. |
